An ode to resourceful and resilient farm folk, The Homesteader is part of our mini lip balm collection celebrating the plants and growing spaces where we gather and grow. This is the firmest balm in the collection ~ yet still spreads easily and offers long-lasting protection. Its texture is reminiscent of classic farm-style balms, with great stay power for daily use.
The formula features grass-fed, pasture-raised beef tallow and sheep lanolin sourced from small, organic, regenerative farms. Lanolin is what makes this balm unique: it mimics the skin’s natural lipids, providing deep hydration, protective occlusion, and enhanced barrier support. Blended with antioxidant-rich Calendula, Peppermint, and Rosemary, this balm soothes, refreshes, and nourishes while giving a subtle herbal aroma reminiscent of a thriving homestead. Packaged in a home-compostable push-up tube made with plant-based inks, gums, and glue, it’s eco-conscious and skin-friendly.
- Push lip balm up gently from the bottom. Apply to lips as often as needed.
- Store out of heat & sunlight when possible. Do not send through the wash.
- Tube is 100% plastic free & HOME COMPOSTABLE. Compost the tube when empty.

The Homesteader tallow lip balm
Lanolin is a highly effective occlusive emollient composed of complex wax esters that mimic skin lipids, helping reduce transepidermal water loss and deeply soften and protect dry or compromised skin.

Tallow is compositionally similar to human sebum and is rich in saturated fats, fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K), and bioavailable lipids that support skin barrier repair, hydration retention, and structural integrity.

Because our products are packaged in violet glass and formulated for stability with natural ingredients, they are designed to maintain their integrity throughout their intended shelf life when stored properly. We recommend using your senses (look, smell, and texture) to assess freshness over time.
