Frequently Asked Questions

  • A hydrosol is a gentle botanical water created during steam distillation of fresh plants, capturing the water-soluble properties of the herb.

  • Hydrosols can be misted directly onto the face after cleansing, used throughout the day for refreshment, or applied before oils and serums to support absorption.

  • Hydrosols are generally very gentle and suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. However, as with any botanical product, some individuals may have sensitivities to specific plants, and certain hydrosols can be more potent than others. We recommend patch testing when trying a new one.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Our products are intentionally packaged in violet glass to protect botanical ingredients from degrading light exposure and support their freshness and stability over time.

  • Hydrosols typically last 8–12 months, sometimes up to 2-3 years. It depends on the plant and storage conditions. Some botanicals are more delicate or antimicrobial than others, so shelf life can vary by plant. For best freshness, store in a cool place away from direct sunlight and use within 1 year.

Most C&C products are best used within 1 year for maximum potency & efficacy. Because our products are packaged in violet glass and formulated for stability with natural ingredients, they are designed to maintain their integrity throughout their intended shelf life when stored properly. We recommend using your senses (look, smell, and texture) to assess freshness over time.
